“Avon’s Big Air Shootout presented by the Vail Daily” is a kayak video competition taking place from May 15th – August 15th, 2008. Kayakers will go the Avon Whitewater Park any time during the competition dates and take video of the tricks they are performing. They will then upload the video on a Web page hosted by the Vail Daily. At the end of the competition, the winning videos will be chosen by a jury and awarded cash prizes.
What are the prizes?
$2,500 to the biggest men and women's tricks performed.
When is the contest open?
The contest will open May 15th at noon and run through August 15th at 11:59 p.m. No late entries will be accepted.
What are the rules?
• Videos must be taken in the Avon Whitewater Park between May 15th – August 15th and submitted online within these dates.
• Video must have proof it is taken at the Avon Whitewater Park by taking footage of “Bob the Bridge” or of the signage in the area describing the park.
• All kayakers must be wearing the proper whitewater kayaking equipment: helmet, personal flotation device and wetsuit or dry-top.
• Winners will be determined by one trick, not the kayaker’s complete ride. It’s the biggest trick preformed at one time. Judges will determine a winner based on technique, amplitude and difficulty.
• Winners will be announced on the Vail Daily Web page no later then August 20th, 2008.
• Entry may not exceed 30 seconds in length.
